At Anawim
At the home for the abandoned elderly, my students played bingo with lolos and lolas and cheered them on like they were playing for a million pesos and not packs of wafer. They sang to their new friends and listened to lola Charing sing a Spanish song, nodding their heads and smiling like they understood her words. When they have finally walked them back to their rooms, they ran to me and showed me the rosary beads and towelettes that the old have given them as presents. They held them up like they were diamonds.
